New Sump Pump

For two days, the new sump pump was working hard to get the water out of our basement.  We heard it going all the time.  We thought it was funny we had never heard it before and it might have been broken even before we bought the place.  We also had never noticed the pipe coming out of the side of our house where the pumped water was pouring out into the garden and the lawn beside the house.  We had noticed water coming out of our neighbour's house in a long pipe on the side of the house but didn't know what it was.  As city slickers, we knew nothing about sump pumps.

Emergency

Barb was posting pictures from the Pickleball US Open on Facebook.  She had a really great photo of all of her friends in a big group picture in front of the US Open banner.  She was not used to tagging people and accidentally tagged Julia and Evelyn Hughes instead of her friends.  She was in a panic because she didn't know how to untag them.  She asked me for help and I had to Google it.  I found out how to untag them and Barb was eternally thankful.  I will never know how Barb gets herself into these messes.  Evelyn Hughes sheesh!

First Game

The day after we arrived home I had my first fastball game of the summer season.  It rained all day.  So I thought the game might be canceled but I got a message after dinner confirming that the game was on.  I guess the field has really great drainage.  So I went to the game and found out that some of the guys from last year were not back this year and we had some new players this year.  I also found out that I would be the coach this year and would not be expected to play much.

Yaris

We had left the Yaris in the garage all winter and were worried that it wouldn't start when we got back because the battery might be dead.  But the Yaris started the first time.  So I took it out was a drive for about a half hour to try to charge the battery.  Later when I got home, Barb realized that she had cancelled the insurance on the Yaris for the winter and I was driving around with no insurance.

Costco

I handed Barb what I thought was advertising from Costco for her to throw in the garbage.  Barb looked at it more closely and noticed that in the pile of advertising was her refund cheque for over $100.  She was glad she had looked more closely.

Refund

I was checking all the mail that had come for us while we were away and found a cheque from Avon Park which was a refund from our internet service provider.  It was in US dollars. So I didn't know if I could cash it at PC Financial.  Then I noticed the fine print on the cheque that said it was only valid for 6 months from the time it was issued.  So it had expired before we got back to Canada.

Printer

After I finished the taxes and filed them, I wanted to print out the confirmations.  I took my laptop to my office and hooked it up to the printer.  The printer immediately started printing pages and I realized that must have sent some print jobs to the wrong printer when I was in Florida and that had been sitting in the print queue for a few months.
