Notes

Barb found that her Android didn't come with a Notes App like her iPod has.  She has all of her important information on her iPod in her Notes App.  So I downloaded a Notes App for her and she hand typed all of her Notes from her iPod to her Android.  Then when I had to reset her phone one day, she lost her Notes App and all of the Notes that she had entered into the App.  She also lost all the photos she had taken with the phone.  She and I were both very upset.

Coffee

We were having problems with our new coffee maker because the water would overflow the filter and the coffee grinds would get in the coffee pot.  It was very annoying.  So Barb bought another coffee maker at the Thrift Shop across the road.  When we tried it out, it was even worse than our original coffee maker.  So she took it back and got a different one.  Finally, this coffee maker was good enough.  We haven't had a good coffee maker since we were living in Barrhaven.

GPS

Barb and I are always amazed how the GPS will take us on one route to a destination and on a entirely different route on the way home.  On the way back to Ottawa from Au Sable, the GPS had me going through the mountains with many very curvy roads.  I couldn't even put the cruise control on because I was always braking for the curves.  Also I was driving through a lot of wilderness.  I was very afraid I was going to run out of gas.  I finally found a gas station in this tiny hick town and was able to fill up with these really hick people from the town.  I wanted to get some cash back when I purchased the gas with my credit card and they said they could only give me $20 cash back.  What a hick town!

Spoiler

We were eliminated from the playoffs but had a chance to play spoiler if we won our final game and there was a team from Ottawa who had to wait around to see if we won because if we did, the team we were playing would be eliminated, and they would be in the playoffs.  I was told that I should write the lineup without help but the captain said I should sit one player that wasn't playing well but he wouldn't tell me who.  He wanted me to figure it out for myself.  So I did some statistics and made my decision.  But I was told I was wrong and was overruled by the captain and I played the guy who I thought should sit and sat one of the guys I thought should play.  The guy that I played was just terrible but it was a close game.  So I convinced the other coaches to replace him near the end of the game and put in the guy that I thought should have started.  He came up in a crucial situation and hit a double to knock in the go ahead run.  All we had to do is get 3 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game.  They got one on and their big homerun hitter was coming up.  I was so happy when we got him to pop up and I was sure we were going to win.  Then the next batter came up and on the first pitch hit a monster homerun to win the game for them.  So we were not the spoiler and the team from Ottawa had to go home without making the playoffs as well.

Party

I got to Au Sable before dinner and the guys were going to have a barbecue that night.  As the guys arrived, some of them were very drunk and they continued to drink all evening until some of the guys could not even stand up.  The guys were all sharing rooms. Some had come with their families and the single guys were sharing 4 to a room.  I got a private room to myself.  I was in my room in my pajamas and getting ready to get in bed when they was a knock on my door and one of the drunk guys was at the door asking me if I know which room so-and-so was in.  I said I didn't.  The drunk guy was very upset because this so-and-so had his phone charger.

SIM Card

When I crossed the border into United States at Ogdensburg and I was pleasantly surprised there was absolutely no lineup at customs.  I didn't have to wait at all and went right through with no problem.  I forgot to turn off the SIM card on my phone and I got two beeps on my phone before I realized I was getting roaming charges on my phone for being out of the Canadian service area.

Long Drive

It was a long drive from New Hamburg to Au Sable but it was a fairly short drive from Ottawa to Au Sable.  So I decided to leave a day early and stop at Julia's house on the way there and take an extra day to get home and stop again on the way back.  I had a good visit with Julia and got some rest but I almost forgot my toothpaste and my distilled water for my CPAP at Julia's.  Fortunately, Julia did a last look around the apartment before I left and found the stuff that I had forgotten.
