Party Day

 Mom's friend was having a pickleball party and made all kinds of food. Then, when the time came, no one showed up. Somehow, she discovered that everyone who was supposed to be coming thought it was the next day. We couldn't laugh at that because a few years ago. We got dressed up for a New Year's Eve party, and when we arrived with our glazed carrots for the potluck, the hosts were coming home. They said hi, saw the bowl of glazed carrots, and said the party was tomorrow. It was a New Year's Day party.

Community Watch

On my evening walk, my community watch friend drove up and stopped to talk to me. I asked him if he had any new jokes. He asked me if I had heard the skeleton who walked into the bar and asked for a beer and a mop. Then, when I stopped laughing, he asked me if I knew why ponies can't sing. I said I didn't. And he said it was because they were a little horse.

Unintended Consequences

 I tell my mentees that every policy has an intended and one or more unintended consequences. Mom and I experienced that today. I was out on the patio working at 5 pm, and the sun was shining on me, making me and my computer very hot. Barb came to see me after pickleball, and I told her I was getting hot. Barb is always a problem solver. So she said I should move the table back into the shade. So, together, we moved the table, and it was much cooler. The next day, I set up my computer on the patio for my first-morning meeting, and I couldn't get my computer to hook up to the Wi-Fi. So I rushed into the house, turned on my office computer, and had all my meetings that day there. I thought something was wrong with my laptop and searched online for a solution, but none worked. My computer worked fine in the bedroom but not on the patio. So, on my walk that night, I realized that the problem started when we moved the table. So I moved the table closer to the back of the house, and the computer Wi-Fi worked again. So, moving the table had the intended consequence of getting me out of the sun but the unintended consequence of getting me out of the Wi-Fi range.
