New Car

We bought our old Barrhaven neighbour's car from them because they were moving to England and were selling it at a good price.  JC was very meticulous about the details and reminded Barb that she would have to bring proof of her insurance for the car before we could take possession.  But he didn't bring his rachet set and couldn't get the license plates off with his wrenches.  We got to the license bureau before it opened and there was already a long line outside the office.  When it opened we got a number and waited and were lucky to get a seat.  The first lady that we went to was in training and couldn't help us.  So we thought we would have to get back in line but the lady beside her said she would help us when she was finished with the person she was helping.  She was very nice and helped us even though there were some questions we couldn't answer. Afterwards, I drove Jane and JC to the airport to get a rental car and Barb drove off to pickleball.

Caps Again

When we got to Chris's house in Ottawa I broke a finger nail bringing in the bags.  Without thinking I pulled off the broken nail with my front teeth and broke the cap on my front tooth.  It actually came off when we were eating our Big Mac dinners.  Barb made an appointment for me to get it fixed when we got home from Ottawa.  She told the receptionist which tooth it was and the lady said it was the same tooth that was fixed before Julia's wedding so it wouldn't be covered by our insurance. I thought it was the other front tooth and when I went in to get it fixed the dentist said yes it was the other tooth.  So my insurance would cover it.  She said that caps only last so long so it is not unusual for the two teeth to break at the same time.

Finding the Car Keys

Barb often leaves for pickleball before I am up in the morning. Today she couldn't find the keys.  We usually leave the car keys on the bench in the front hall.  Barb searched the house and couldn't find them anywhere.  Finally she found them in the back pocket of my baseball pants which were hanging in the closet.

Finding Ivan

I stay up late after Barb goes to bed and sometimes I am out late at my ball games after Barb goes to bed.  Tonight Barb woke up at 2:30 to get some echinacea because she thought she might be coming down with a cold.  She couldn't find me when she looked around the house.  Then she checked outside to make sure my car was in the driveway.  It was.  Then when she came back to bed she found me asleep in the bed.

Dillon and Julia were visiting and staying over for dinner.  After dinner I was on my computer and was reminded that Julia's birthday was coming up.  I proudly said Julia's birthday was coming on July 24th.  Everyone was happy to correct me and tell me that her birthday was on July 23rd.  I was embarrassed that I didn't know my own daughter's birthday.

Invitation

A friend of our neighbour was planning a surprise going away party for our neighbours Ruth and Ron who are moving to Windsor.  The lady put an invitation in the door knob of our neighbour across the road.  Unfortunately, he was away visiting relatives in Nova Scotia.  The invitation was on his door for a number of days until Barb decided to go over and get it because she was afraid Ruth would go and pick it up for him and it would ruin the surprise.

Rain

We finally got some rain after many weeks of none.  It rained tonight and Barb thinks it rained because she had watered the garden.  She finds it hard to water the whole garden because it goes all the way around the house and the hose doesn't reach that far.  She has tried to figure out a way to use the tap at the side of the house.  First she had to turn the valve in the basement on to get the tap to work.  Then she tried to use the hose holder and the special thing that attaches to the tap but she found it didn't fit.  Also the hose is always getting bent and doesn't work.  It is just so much trouble that she loves that it rained.
