Barbecue Brush

Barb was getting ready for bed and taking her nightly vitamins when she heard a strange noise outside on the driveway.  She turned on the light and screamed for me to come see.  There was a big raccoon hanging around the barbecue.  When I came to see, we noticed that there were actually two raccoons and they were fighting over the barbecue brush.  I guess there was a little burnt meat on the barbecue brush.  The brush was in a jug and they had pulled the brush out of the jug and were licking the bristles to get the burnt meat off it.  Barb tried to scare them away but they weren't afraid of us and didn't seem to mind that we had turned on the porch light.  They started to drag the brush away but finally they gave up and left the brush and went away.

Renae

Laura had her last surgery and we were so happy that her best friend from Halifax was coming to Vancouver to take care of her while she was recovering.  She just loves her friend Renae.  Maybe the pain of the surgery might not be too hard to take with her best friend around to cheer her up.

Grey Cup

We went to Daphne's house in Crystal Lake to watch the Grey Cup.  We also wanted to see all of the damage that the Hurricane Irma had caused.  Daphne lent us her golf cart and we went all around the park.  There were many houses that had their car ports blown off and that took some of the roof of the house with it.  There were many roofs damaged and the roofs were covered with blue tarps to keep the rain out.  There was still a lot of flooding on the golf course and the lake was really high but the streets were no longer flooded.  We were driving down the street in the golf cart and saw two old Canadian friends in a golf cart coming the other way.  They recognized us and waved and then I thought we should turn around and talk to them.  I was almost hit by a car when I tried to turn around.  I did turn around and they turned around and we met half way.  We talked to them on the road for quite a long time and they told us all the Canadian gossip about who was not able to come to Florida this year and who was selling their place because they couldn't come to Florida any more for health reasons.  We got all the news.  The game wasn't too bad either.  Toronto won. It was an upset.

Online Shopping

Barb is up to her old tricks buying things online and getting free shipping.  She likes to buy things online in the US because of that.  This week she got three packages in a row.  One was in a large box that was on the top shelf of the mail box.  Barb thought that the little old people who lived in the neighbourhood would never have been able to reach that high up and get down a package like that.

Nightmare

Laura and I like to compare our dreams.  Well, last night I had a nightmare that I had to multiply matrices without a calculator.  It was terrifying.

Jacob

Laura texted Sarah to tell her that she was at a birthday party for a friend and she sat beside Jacob Hogarth from Hedley, who is Sarah and Mom's favourite singer.  She didn't know it was Jacob until someone told her that the guy she was sitting beside was in a band and Laura asked what the name of the band was and the guy said Hedley.

Costco

We made a Costco run to Orlando just before Thanksgiving.  As we were coming out of Costco, there was a family that had five very full shopping carts coming out at the same time.  They had the longest receipt we had ever seen.  I think they might have been having some kind of free Thanksgiving dinner for the poor or something.  They had tons of food of all kinds and tons of paper plates and cups and plastic cutlery.
