Red Sox

My church league team won two games while I was away in Ottawa.  I was almost afraid to come home.  They had only won one game all season and had played about 13. But the guy who ran the team while I was away didn't enjoy it very much and said he would rather just leave the decisions of who played and who sat on the bench to me.  So I came back we won our next two games too and were now out of last place in the league.

Hot as Heck

Barb played in four events on Saturday and Sunday.  One Saturday morning and one Saturday afternoon and one Sunday morning and one Sunday afternoon.  I got to see her play on Saturday and Sunday afternoon but the arena she was playing at had no air-conditioning and that weekend was hotter than heck.  Barb was so tired and so uncomfortable she could hardly stand it.  She said they should of cancelled the tournament or done it somewhere else.  It was ridiculous.

Ottawa

Barb went to Ottawa for a pickleball tournament and stayed with her old friends from the Barrhaven tennis club Gary and Debbie.  When Barb discovered pickleball we were in Ottawa and she wanted to get her friends to start playing with her but they wouldn't even let her mention the p-word.  She wanted the Barrhaven tennis club to set up pickleball lines but her so called friends on the executive wouldn't hear of it even though Barb had been the treasurer of the club for years and years.  Then almost as soon as we left Barrhaven her old friends discovered pickleball for themselves and now they are as addicted to it as Barb.  There is a very active pickleball association in Ottawa who have been able to get many many gyms and courts to set up pickleball courts.  Barb is always complaining that she can't find enough good pickleball in Kitchener and she is jealous of the people in Ottawa.  I keep telling her we can sell our place in New Hamburg and move back to Ottawa but she always says that then I would not have my fastball.  Anyway her wish came true when Barb got to play pickleball with her old friends the night before her pickleball tournament in Ottawa.

Taping

Barb had to go out and so she wanted to tape the tennis at Wimbledon.  So she left the TV on and set up her phone in front of the TV on record.  Then she went to pickleball for four hours.  When she got back she was excited to watch the tennis on her phone but it turned out that something had happened to her phone and it only taped for 3 minutes.

Pictures

We were going to a redo of photos from Sarah's wedding and wondered where we could do them.  So one day we got all dressed up and went out to the gardens in the community and found a nice place to get some pictures.  We looked all over the park and some people thought it was strange seeing us going around the park all dressed up.

Flashing Light

Laura took my car one day and forgot to fill it with gas before she got home.  When we were going to my fastball game that night I noticed the lack of gas in the tank and as we were driving the half hour to the ballpark the gas light started flashing.  So I asked Laura to look up the gas stations on route to the ballpark.  She said there was one on the way about halfway there.  We got there and it had just closed at 8 pm.  Then there looked like there was another one right beside the ball park.  When we got there we found out it only sold diesel gas for tractors.  I didn't have time to do any more looking and so I got Laura to drop me off at the ballpark and then go looking for a gas station somewhere else.  She drove off and I wondered if I would see her again.  I kept looking and looking at the road to the ball park.  Then just before the game started Laura got back with a full tank of gas.

Shingles

Barb is always saying we should get the shingles vaccine because she has heard about so many of her friends in Florida who have had terrible painful problems with shingles.  We found out today that shingles was not just a problem for old people when Laura came down with the shingles.  At first we didn't know what the little bumps on Laura's stomach were and then they spread to her back.  Barb quickly took her to a local clinic and the doctor gave her a prescription for an anti-viral medicine.  The doctor said that since we caught it so early it should react well to the medicine.  If we had waited any longer it would have been very bad.  When Barb and Laura filled the prescription the medicine came in a cool neon green bottle.
