Every year while I am in Florida, I call CIBC Securities to make a
deposit in my Tax Free Savings Mutual Funds.
So today I phoned them and the fellow was looking up my file and while
we were waiting he asked me if I had a good holiday. I said yes it was great because I am here in Florida. He asked so you're in Florida now.
I said yes. He then said could
you hold the line for a second. I knew
what was going to happen next. He came
back on the line in a few minutes and he said that he couldn't handle my
deposit because I disclosed that I was in Florida
and he was only licensed to handle transactions in Canada. I told him that I also wanted to deposit to
my Registered Retirement Savings Plan Mutual Funds and if I have to wait until
I get home to Canada
in May I will miss the deadline for 2016.
I said so if I phone back and get another person but don't disclose that
I am in Florida
I can make the deposit. He said he can't
advise me on that. He said he was sorry
but there was nothing he could do for me.
I didn't phone back but I should have tried it.
