Beaver

I go for a walk every day and if it is a nice day, I walk on the trail beside the river.  One day, I was walking beside the river and I saw something swimming across the river.  It looked like a small dog but it had a big flat tail and I realized it was a beaver.  I had never seen a real live beaver before.

Bingo

Barb decided she would go out on Thursday nights to play darts at the Village Center.  She really enjoyed it and met a lot of new people.  Ever Thursday night, she would tell me that she was going to bingo and many times she was telling about the people she met at bingo.  She seemed to have a mental block.  She always said bingo when she meant darts.

Two Computers At Once

I thought it would be good to work on my laptop at my computer desk.  However, I have my desktop computer is also at the desk.  And I was trying to work on the laptop computer as I was recording albums on the desktop computer but I kept typing or hitting the mouse on the desktop computer thinking I was working on the laptop computer and every time I hit the keyboard or the mouse on the desktop computer, it would stop the recorder.  Also I was always wondering why the laptop computer wasn't responding to my typing and mouse clicks and it was because I was typing on the desktop computer.  Eventually, I realized that I couldn't work effectively on the laptop computer and my desktop at my desk at the same time and took my laptop back to my lounge chair.

Will Dunk

We needed a pitcher for the Richmond Hill tournament.  So I asked Will Dunk from Ottawa and he said he would like to.  So I told Sean Tracy we had a pitcher.  Then a couple of days later, Will Dunk wrote me back and told me that the tournament was on the same weekend as BluesFest and he had week-long tickets.  So I emailed Sean and said Will wasn't coming now and we needed a pitcher again.  Then a couple of days later, Will emailed me again and said he wanted to play and would skip Blues Fest.  So I emailed Sean again and said we did have a pitcher but Sean hadn't seen the email that I had written earlier in which I told him Will wasn't coming.  So he was never worried.

Matilda

Sarah was asking me if I could get the new Mara Wilson autobiography out of the library as an audio book.  Mara Wilson was the actress that played Matilda in the movie that Sarah watched over and over a thousand times when she was 3 years old.  I looked it up on the 4 libraries that I have cards for and none of them had the audio book.  They all had the ebook.  So I got the ebook out and I told Sarah that I would send her the ebook but Sarah said she doesn't read anymore.  Barb said if I was a good parent, I would read the book aloud and record it for Sarah to listen to.  So I spent 8 hours reading the book into my Android.  One chapter I was reading and Barb was listening and both of us started crying, it was so sad.  Barb said that I wasn't holding the Android close enough to my mouth and that it was going to be too soft to hear.  She was right when I played it back it was too soft to hear.  So I plugged my Android into my computer and used my software to re-record it and amplify it and re-save it.  I got it finished just in time for Sarah's birthday.  Then I uploaded it to Google Drive and sent it to her.  She didn't listen to it for weeks and we kept asking her about it but we didn't tell her that I had read it for her. She thought she was getting the actual audio book.  We bugged her and bugged her to listen to it.  When she finally listened to a little of the book, she realized that I was reading it and she sent me a sad iMessage saying that she couldn't listen to it.  We asked her why but she wouldn't tell us.  She never listened to it.  Maybe I will get her the real audio book when the library gets it.

Victoria Street

Barb was driving home from pickleball and there was a traffic jam on Victoria Street at the roundabout at 4 pm.  She waited and waited and finally she saw what was causing the traffic jam.  There were 7 families of Canada Geese crossing the road, mothers and fathers and many little babies.  Barb was lucky she was driving home from pickleball and not to pickleball.  Otherwise she would have been late.

Fast Reactions

Sarah took me to CORA's for Father's Day and it was terrible.  The food was cold and the sausages were not cooked.  It was crowded and noisy with lots of loud kids.  Then when the waitress was pouring me a cup of coffee, she knocked over my cup and it almost scalded me in my lap.  Fortunately, as soon as I saw the coffee spilling, I pushed my chair back away from the table, so the coffee wouldn't land on my lap.  The people at the next table thought I had very fast reactions to get out of the way so quickly.  It was fortunate that the family sitting at the table behind me had already left or I would have crashed my chair into them and someone would probably have been hurt I pushed my chair with so much force.  I waitress gave me a free meal but we still complained to the cashier about the cold food and she got the manager.  The manager said that they had served over 400 families today and no one else had complained about cold food.  He gave us all of our meals for free though.  We will probably not be going back to CORA's any time soon.
