We were planning to cross the border at Sarnia
instead of Windsor because we got lost crossing
over at Windsor last year and the border
crossing was very busy at Windsor.
Barb drives the first leg of our trip because she likes to
drive when the road in empty and I like to sleep for the first few hours. She was worried that she would miss the exit
from the 401 to the 402 which goes to Sarnia.
I woke up to help her when she came to exit and we took
Highway 402. We hadn't gone very far when
we found the highway was closed. There
was no detour. It was just closed for
some unknown reason. So we took the exit
and turned around and went back to the 401.
There was no exit from the 402 to the 401. So when we got on the 401 we had to get off
at the first exit and turn around and get back on going the other way.
When we drove to Windsor I
thought that the 401 went straight to the bridge for the USA. So we took the 401 past the sign that said
bridge to the USA. We went a little farther then the highway
closed. We had to turn around and get
back on the highway and then find the exit for the bridge to the USA. The exit for the bridge took us right through
what seemed like downtown Windsor
but I seemed to remember it from last year.
We got to the border and there were hardly any cars. So we didn't have to wait long. The border guard asked Barb if she was
bringing any alcohol over the border and Barb said no she didn't drink. The guard said then how can you live with
that guy. Funny fellow.
We crossed the border and got on Interstate 71 South this
time not Interstate 71 North like last year and we were on our way to Florida.
