Buttons

Barb was roasting in the car, so she turned up the air conditioning full blast, but no air was coming out. She immediately thought, "Oh no, the air conditioning is broken, and we will have to get a new car." But then she realized she had hit the button for the rear window defogger, not the air conditioning.

Beautiful Mouse

Barb's television monitor my sister gave us for free many years ago finally broke. So, Barb bought a used monitor for $50 from a neighbour advertising it on Facebook Marketplace. She brought it home, and I tried to set it up for her with her laptop. I used the mouse to connect it, but it wasn't working. I thought I had lost the connection with the mouse. I tried everything I could think of but couldn't get it to work. Then I realized I was using the mouse from my laptop, which looked identical to the mouse on Barb's computer. They were both the beautiful blue colour Barb loves.

New Pyjamas

Later that night, I was in my pyjamas, but I wanted to record a video of a presentation on Zoom. So, I put on one of my nice Policy Dynamics golf shirts. But I still had my pyjama pants on. After recording the video, I went straight to bed but forgot to change my shirt. And slept in my golf shirt all night. I didn't realize it until I looked in the bathroom mirror in the morning.

Small Town

I was just coming home from my evening walk when I saw my neighbour's brother standing at the end of their driveway smoking a cigarette. I said my old joke that he must be out getting some fresh air. We started talking, and I asked him where he was from. He said a small town in Ontario. So, I asked which town. And he said Kingston. I laughed because that is not a small town at all, especially compared to New Hamburg.

Useful Stapler

So, I carry my laptop all over the house and outside to the patio. And I knew I would eventually break it if I carried it around so much. Well, last Saturday night, I was carrying my laptop into the living room, and I closed the lid as usual, but my earbuds were on the keyboard. When I got to the living room and opened the laptop, the screen was badly damaged from the earbuds. I didn't realize it was so fragile. So I scrambled to save all my files on my Google Drive, and then the next day, I went to Best Buy with the computer to buy a new computer and get all my programs transferred to it. But there was a long lineup at the service desk, and they said I would need to make an appointment. So I made an appointment for the next day. But on my walk that night, I saw that someone was throwing out a television/DVD player. A note on it said it worked, but the stand was broken. So when I got home, I told Barb, and we decided to drive back and get it. We brought it home and set it up on my desk, but I didn't have the right cable. So, we tested it on Barb's computer, and it worked. So, I cancelled my appointment at Best Buy. It took me a week to figure out the cable. Then, I was back in business with the television, replacing the broken monitor on my laptop. But because the stand was broken, I had to put my stapler under one corner to keep it standing straight.

1,002nd Excuse

Barb's friend's husband wrote a book called "1,001 Excuses You Hear in Pickleball". Today, Barb heard one that she thought probably wasn't in his book. She was playing with a lady who kept hitting the ball into the net. At first, she said her hand was numb and needed to warm up. He probably had already heard that one. But later, she was still hitting the ball into the net. So next, she says, "I think it's my panties. I think they're too tight."

Google

Barb's friend calls me "Google" in a nice way because she says I know everything. Tonight, Barb was talking about the mystery novel she was reading that was set in a small town in Quebec about a mysterious "big gun." I started talking about Gerald Bull. She looked at me, shocked. How did you know about Gerald Bull? He is mentioned in my book. I said he was a defence scientist in Valcartier who invented a giant gun to shoot satellites into space. Barb couldn't believe he was a real guy, and I knew about him.
