Daphne gave me a pedometer for Christmas to measure how long
my afternoon walk was. I walked my
normal route and as usual after my walk I went into the backyard and picked up
the grapefruit that had fallen off the tree.
When I bent over the pedometer fell on the ground and when I picked it
up it had reset itself to zero.
So I had to use the pedometer again the next day. This time I was careful and looked at the
pedometer as soon as I got home. It said
my walk was 3.9 miles. It also gave the
measurements in yards and steps. I was
explaining how it worked to Barb and she was confused by my poor
explanation. She suggested that we drive
my walk route and measure the distance on the odometer of the car.
We did and it said 3.9 miles just like the pedometer. When Barb found out that I already knew it
was 3.9 miles, she wondered about what I thought we were doing.
