Quilting Trigonometry

Barb was working on a complicated quilt with many pieces that were sewn together to make right angle triangles.  She kept measuring and placing but the triangles wouldn’t line up.  She had made a few cuts of the fabric and they didn’t fit together.  She was running out of the fabric she wanted to use.  So she was getting disparate. I offered to calculate the shape of the pieces using some trigonometry and some geometry.  When Barb finally had the quilt together she was very thankful.  Barb is always sad to say she never learned the Pythagorean Theorem in high school math.
