Keeping Up

Barb drove the U-Haul truck ahead and I followed her in the Honda.  The truck was from Arizona and the speed-o-meter was in miles per hour.  So Barb had no idea what speed she was going.  Also the truck didn’t have cruise control.  So she found she was driving slow and fast and couldn’t keep the truck going the same speed.

So after the first stop, Barb decided that I should drive ahead and she would follow in the truck because I could put the car in cruise control.  I asked her what speed I should set the cruise at and she said 110 kilometres per hour.

We started out and it wasn’t long until I was way ahead of Barb in the truck.  I had to slow down to let her catch up.  After doing this a number of times, I eventually realised that Barb couldn’t keep up at 110.  So I let her pass and I followed her again.

Barb told me when we arrived in New Hamburg that the truck was shaking so much at 110, she didn’t think she could keep it on the road.  Also she said she was having difficultly seeing the road in the rain.  Also we drove through construction with the concrete walls so close to the highway that she thought the truck was going to hit them.
