Foul Ball

I was coaching my team.  We were behind and our pitcher was not doing very well.  So I wanted to put in another pitcher but it was a cold night and I thought I should wait until he could warm up between innings.  Unfortunately, he was coming up to bat in the next inning.  So I said you warm up to pitch and I will go up to bat for you.  I went up to bat and on a 2 strike count I swung and the pitch hit me in the thumb.  It hurt like heck and I looked at my thumb and it was bleeding through my batting glove.  So I pulled myself out of the game and the pitcher guy had to finish the at bat by going in with a 2 strike count.  He ground out to third base on his first pitch and then there was 3 out and he went in to pitch the next inning.  He didn't have to pitch for long because we got mercied.  All night my thumb was bleeding and it bleed for two days right through the bandages that Barb put on for me.  I got blood all over my computer mouse pad because it was my right thumb.  The thing was that I got hit on the thumb and the hand is part of the bat.  So I didn't even get to go to first base.  It was considered a foul ball.
