Ottawa Player

At my first ball game in the Church League, I heard the guys on the other team cheering a fellow who they called Ceppi.  I was playing first base and he was on second.  I asked the first base coach what the guy's first name was.  He said he didn't know.  I asked him if he used to play in Ottawa.  The coach didn't know.  After the game I went up to the other team's bench and asked him if he used to play in Ottawa.  He said yes and I introduced myself and he remembered me.  He said that this was his first game with this team and he had moved to Sebringville and was playing for a team there.  I thought how could that be.  The league has a rule that you can only play for one league unless you had been in the league for three years.  Later I found out that each team is allowed one exception with the approval of the other captains.  A couple of games later, I heard that the team had asked for an exception for my friend and they were turned down by the other captains.  He wasn't happy because the other team he played for was very good and he hardly got to play with them.  He was hoping to play more in the Church League to stay sharp.
