We finally broke down and decided to use my new Android
phone instead of our old LG that looked like a Blackberry. We used to like the LG because it had a
keyboard but lately we have found that the keyboard is difficult to work
compared to the Android. We tired to
move the SIM card from the LG to the Android but it didn't fit. So Barb had to go to the Rogers store to buy a new SIM card. She wanted to get the man there to set it up
for us but there was some problem with his system. So the Rogers
guy told her we could do it online.
However, it is never that easy with a pay-as-you-go Rogers phone.
There was no way to do the transfer online. So we tried to phone them but there is also
no way to phone them if you have problems with a pay-as-you-go phone. We had to phone them using the cellphone
information from the kids' phone and then ask to get transferred to the
pay-as-you-go people. The lady at Rogers told us that there
was no way to transfer our contacts to the Android and we might lose our
contacts on the LG when we activate the Android. She was nice enough to give us a direct phone
number to call to get to a pay-as-you-go help line and Barb was so happy she
didn't have to screw around with the crazy Rogers answering system. So I went through all of our contacts on the
LG and found the ones that we would like to keep and which we don't need
anymore because they are from when we lived in Ottawa.
I transferred all the contacts to the Android. Then we called Rogers back and they activated our new
card. We tested out the new phone and it
seemed to work great. However, we will
miss the old ringtone which played the Bruno Marz song "Move Like Jagger". Finally, we checked the contacts on the LG
and they were still there. So we didn't
really have to worry.
